If you've ever fancied trying your hand at being a taxi driver in one of the world's busiest cities, then London Cabbie will give you that opportunity. In this game, you take on the role of a taxi driver in - surprisingly enough - London, and you must pick up, and drop off, your customers to their satisfaction. If you drive poorly, your patrons will let you know about it, in no uncertain terms! There are only four levels in this game, but there's still plenty of challenge and interest here, and you'll probably find yourself playing many times.

You'll need to take a moment to learn the controls for this game. The left and right cursor keys steer you left and right, the up arrow increases your speed, and the down arrow slows you down. The space bar is used for making an emergency stop. However, there are a couple more controls you need to know about. Press H to blast your horn, and send those pedestrians scattering. Finally, if you need to get out of your taxi, use the Ctrl key to open the door. Just make sure you have "The Knowledge" of the streets, like a real cabbie, since you need to keep your image bright!

Perhaps inevitably, the programmers of London Cabbie decided to include a lot of pseudo-Cockney chatter in the game. It's not terribly authentic, and real Londoners aren't likely to be fooled for a moment, but it is a lot of fun. The game also features some attractive graphics, and a good sound effect for the engine of your taxi, as well as quite a dramatic smashing noise if you should be so unlucky as to crash. Just make sure you don't spend too long gazing at the scene, though, as your timer is running constantly. Oh, and remember - this is London, so drive on the left!
